NightOwl opens 9th convenience store on Gold Coast

Date: 25 November 2009

Brief Description:
Australian owned and operated, NightOwl today opens its ninth convenience store on Queensland’s Gold Coast in Robina, bringing the group store count to 58 stores across Australia.

Description:
Situated in the new $110 million 16 level Robina Rocket complex at 203 Robina Town Centre Drive, the NightOwl store provides customers with an extensive range of top-up products seven days a week, from 5am to midnight.

NightOwl Robina Rocket Franchisees Terry Smith and Athol White said they were excited to continue NightOwl’s expansion in the Gold Coast region and welcome customers to the store.

“NightOwl Robina Rocket customers can expect to receive exceptional customer service while shopping in our fantastic new store that showcases NightOwl’s new branding, signage and food display equipment,” Mr Smith said.

“We are delighted to offer a comprehensive range of great value grocery items and fresh produce along with heated, chilled and ambient convenience products, a large selection of cold drinks and fresh bean / fresh milk mocopan coffee.”

Mr Smith, who opened his first NightOwl store in Brisbane’s Carindale in 1995, said location and tenancy mix were the prime factors in choosing sites for stores and The Rocket scored top marks on both counts.

“The Rocket occupies an easy-to-access prime position at the heart of a central-city community of more than 30,000 people in a business hub that will continue to develop for another decade,” Mr Smith said.

“The tower is an outstanding building in a prime CBD Robina location close to Skilled Park stadium and Robina Train Station with additional office buildings and significant residential areas nearby.

“The Rocket itself will house a workforce of around 800 people and the NightOwl store will provide the workforce with a modern convenience shopping facility on their doorstep.”

NightOwl General Manager Guy Elliott said the opening of NightOwl’s ninth store on the Gold Coast is testament to the company’s successful franchising formula and a great example of a multi-site franchisee wanting to further expand their business.

“As today’s society is craving convenience, we are confident that we have the right franchising model to maximise our success,” Mr Elliott said.

“With the pace of life getting faster all the time, top-up items continue to play an ever increasing role in our customers’ lives.

“Australian owned and operated, NightOwl and its franchisees employ more than 500 casual and full-time staff – that’s a significant employment and economic contribution in our local communities across our country.”

*Terry Smith and Athol White currently own 12 NightOwl franchise stores in Brisbane and the Gold Coast including stores in; Boondall, Carindale, North Lakes, Stones Corner and Yeronga in Brisbane and Burleigh Waters, Mermaid Beach, Robina, Robina Rocket, Southport, Surfers Paradise and Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast.
