NightOwls help keep our beaches safe

Date: 30 November 2009

Brief Description:
More than 150 NightOwl Franchisees, staff and Support Centre team members wore their board shorts to work last Friday 27 November, in support of the 2009 Surf Life Saving Queensland Appeal and national ‘Boardies Day’.

Description:

Gold coin donations plus a $10,000 cheque were donated to Surf Life Saving Queensland, to be used for new equipment for surf clubs throughout Queensland.

As part of the fundraising initiative, 15 NightOwl Franchisees and team members attended the Channel 9 studio on Friday evening, to help man the phone lines and take donations from across the state.

In addition, 15 cents from every bottle of NightOwl spring water sold throughout NightOwl’s 58 stores is donated to Surf Life Saving QLD.

Marketing Manager Grant Peck said NightOwl’s involvement with the Surf Life Saving Appeal and Boardies day was an exciting, fun way to support our volunteer surf lifesavers and help raise much needed funds for the worthwhile charity.

“I thank all Queenslanders who supported the weekend activities and assisted with raising money for this extremely worthy cause,” he said.

Acting SLSQ chief executive officer John Brennan said community partnerships with companies such as NightOwl’s were integral to the movement’s ability to raise awareness and funds for its volunteer lifesaving services.

“Funds raised help provide our lifesavers with the equipment and training to do what they do best – save lives!” he said.

Australian owned and operated, NightOwl and its franchisees employ more than 500 casual and full-time staff across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
