NightOwl opens in Brisbane CBD hotspot

Date: 2 March 2010

Brief Description:
NightOwl Franchisees Jeff and Elaine Martin have opened the doors of their first NightOwl franchise this month in one of Brisbane CBD’s key growth areas.

Description:
The vibrant new store at 400 George Street, with its inviting 10-metre shop frontage, is surrounded by the Roma Street train station, law courts and police headquarters, as well as other new commercial and residential developments.

Jeff said a handful of key factors were paramount in choosing a successful franchise, with brand and location being the most important.

“Firstly, I knew the NightOwl brand was credible and well known. It’s recognisable and it offers fantastic opportunities for franchisees,” he said.

“Then I looked carefully at the potential in this location and saw how incredible it was. This part of the CBD used to be so run down and it has been completely rejuvenated.”

The “North Quarter” or the “Law Precinct” of Brisbane’s CBD has undergone a massive transformation in the past few years. Connecting the CBD with the Roma Street Parklands, it incorporates the Kurilpa Bridge, providing direct access to Southbank’s cultural district.

Nearly $2 billion has been spent on constructing new commercial and residential buildings. It is estimated over 50,000 people will pass through the precinct every week and Mr Martin said his team will be taking full advantage of those opportunities.

“Our aim is to become the flagship NightOwl store,” he said.

“We’ve got great staff and a real point of difference with our competition, offering competitive pricing and the kind of service that encourages our customers to keep coming back.

“Open 24 hours, seven days a week, we provide fantastic combo deals and fresh menu items for city office workers and tradies, complementing our extensive range of convenience and top-up products for daily needs.”

The Brisbane CBD store brings the NightOwl group store count to 59 stores across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

* Australian owned and operated, NightOwl and its franchisees operate 59 stores across Australia, employing more than 500 casual and full-time staff. The first NightOwl Convenience store was opened in 1975 and the business was then franchised in 1986.
