NightOwl supports Bundaberg Celtics

Date: 18 March 2010

Brief Description:
A NightOwl sponsorship deal is going to help a 13-year-old Bundaberg girl realise her sporting dreams.

Description:

Up-and-coming basketball star Ashleigh Frampton, who captains her under-14 team at the Bundaberg Celtics, was chosen by the club to be sponsored after the local NightOwl stepped in with their financial support.

Celtics head coach Anthony Parry said the ramifications for Ashleigh, as well as the whole team, were “huge”.

“Ashleigh’s an amazing player and as the captain, she really lifts and motivates the whole team,” Mr Parry said.

“If she wasn’t sponsored by NightOwl, she wouldn’t be able to attend the State Championships on the Gold Coast this year – and that would be devastating for the whole team as they’ve just won the district championship for the first time in a long time.

“Last year they didn’t win a single game so this year has been pretty incredible.”

Mr Parry said the sponsorship money and support given by NightOwl would pay for the deposit for Ashleigh’s State Championships trip, as well as other basketball association fees, training and fitness costs.

He said Ashleigh was an “inspiration” to many of the younger basketball players.

“She coaches one of the under-10 teams and is wonderful with the kids. She won player of the year last year and because of the commitment that she has to her team and also to the team she coaches, the kids just all look up to her and really support her,” he said.

Mr Parry said Ashleigh’s sponsorship money would ensure she stayed on track to succeeding in basketball.

“She’s got the talent and has just been chosen to be part of our Superstar Academy. She’s going to play state league and is lining up for a college scholarship.

“There’s big things in store for Ashleigh and this sponsorship from NightOwl is going to assist her in achieving her dreams.”

NightOwl Bundaberg Franchisee Kathy Dick said it was important to support the local community and reward customers for shopping at the store.

“We are committed to giving back to the local community and supporting young people by encouraging them to fulfil their dreams and aspirations,” she said.

Situated at 224 Bourbong Street, Bundaberg, the NightOwl convenience store provides customers with an extensive range of top-up products for daily needs, seven days a week with extended trading hours.

“With the pace of life getting faster all the time, top-up grocery items continue to play an ever increasing role in our customers’ lives,” she said.

* Australian owned and operated, NightOwl and its franchisees operate 59 stores across Australia, employing more than 500 casual and full-time staff. The first NightOwl Convenience store was opened in 1975 and the business was then franchised in 1986.
