NightOwl supports Little Mountain community
Date: 8 April 2010Brief Description:
A Caloundra NightOwl store will donate some of its takings to the Leukemia Foundation to help a local mother who lost her son to cancer last year.
Description:
Amanda Bogle, whose 5-year-old son Beau Welbourne died of a rare and aggressive form of cancer in November, approached her local Little Mountain NightOwl in March, wanting to know if they could help her raise money for Shave For a Cure.
Franchisees Jonathan Jones and Jo McNeill jumped at the chance to support Amanda and organised an in-store raffle.
Any customer who spent $10 or more in the lead-up to the Easter holidays had the chance to put their docket into the draw to win an Easter hamper – and the NightOwl store would donate 10% of the total of those receipts as sponsorship of Amanda’s participation in the World’s Greatest Shave.
“It was the least we could do. Working as a nurse, I’ve seen first-hand the devastation that cancer causes, so it’s important for us a community business to get behind great fundraisers like this,” Jo said.
With the raffle drawn and winner announced last Thursday, NightOwl will now donate $200 to Amanda’s fundraising pool.
“Every bit helps. Amanda has been such an inspiration to us – the fact she’s out raising money for leukemia so soon after losing her own son to the disease…it’s amazing,” Jo said.
"We’re just so glad that she asked us to help her out.”
Jonathan and Jo will present Amanda with her cheque this Friday at 9:30am at the NightOwl Little Mountain store. The money will go towards Ms Bogle’s 4Beau Shave For a Cure goal of $10,000.
